 | Leading the American Alumni Association is an honour that comes laden with not only pride but much responsibility as well. The AAA serves a two fold purpose- while it endeavors to promote the interests of individuals who have studied in the United States of America it also encourages those who wish to pursue educational opportunities in the U.S. Each of the organization’s activities and events focus on achieving these two goals, both of which serve the ever-increasing members fold of the AAA. The AAA strives to establish a sense of thought leadership in a variety of spheres by consolidating education, cultural and economic ties between India and the U.S.
It has been over forty years since the AAA was created and now, in 2010, with a great team in place, we are able to realize many of our visions. It’s important for the AAA to ensure that talented and deserving students who wish to study in the U.S have a fair opportunity. For this purpose we have created the, ‘Scholars Abroad’ program. This initiative provides generous monetary support to students persevering to study in the United States but face some financial impediments. The interests of existing members are of paramount importance. We’re looking to establish the AAA as a platform wherein like-minded individuals can come together, interact and network, for business and social purposes. The AAA is also keen to introduce new members as an extension of our efforts to enrich the organization and add diversity to it. Special effort is invested in ensuring that different and interesting events, including photography workshops, sailing activities and wine-tasting sessions, are regularly organized so that the organization is able add value to the lives of its members, both, socially and culturally, as well. Each member brings his/her own contribution to the Association; it’s the combination of each one of us that makes the AAA as successful as it is today. We endeavor to provide information and assistance to returning alums from US institutions, an activity that will enhance their social and professional lives.
Moving forward, the AAA plans to only increase activities and efforts. We intend to grow not only in numbers but in value as well. It is the AAA’s constant endeavour also to strengthen our position as the premier alumni association for those returning from educational stints in the U.S and we are grateful to have, amongst us, enthusiastic and generous members who are keen and able to help us realize these visions. Looking back, I feel proud of all that the AAA has achieved and how each activity has stayed closely aligned with our overall goals. However, looking ahead at what lies in the future, I am greatly enthused as I can see that the best, from the AAA quarters, is yet to come!
