 Feedback from past students

Dear Maam,

I joined University of California, Berkeley, as a graduate student in mechanical engineering in fall 2008. I received a grant of Rs. 50,000 from the AAA which were  used  for my educational expenses in Berkeley, CA. I am thankful for your timely aid, and I value the support AAA provided.

I just completed 2nd term here and will be now starting the summer break. In summer, I plan to continue research in the Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Lab. where I have been working. I will be starting my second year in Fall 2009 (Aug) I am currently working in the area of CAD/CAM and use of graphics hardware (GPUs) and parallel computing in general purpose programming.

I will be in Berkeley for quite some time, and will be more than happy to help out new incoming students. Please feel free to contact me if anything is needed.

Thank you,
Sushrut

Dear Poorvi,

The AAA grant has been really helpful for me and it served as a partial amount to pay my
tution here in Carnegie Mellon University. I am doing my Masters in Chemical Engineering and have just completed my second semester in Process Systems Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. I am really grateful to the AAA and the Lalchand Hirachand Trust for being kind and considerate and helping students fulfill their dream. It was like a dream come true for me to be able to receive education in one of the best universities in the world with world class facilities. Being a Private university I could have never dreamt of being able to study here for it is one of the most expensive universities. But the encouragement from AAA made me realise that I should aim high and reach for it. I am sure that one day when I am capable and financially able I would
love to help students who are in great need of support.

Thanks again to the AAA and the Lalchand Hirachand Trust for helping
us in such a noble cause.

Best Regards,
Jyoti

Dear Ms Poorvi and AAA community,

I am just about to complete my Master of City Planning degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge MA. I will be finishing all my degree requirements in July 2009. From Fall 2009 onwards, I will be enrolling at Princeton University in the Department of History for their PhD program.

When I received the AAA funding, I decided to use the AAA funding as my Book Fund. Not only was the amount of money just right for the number of books I have purchased in the last two years, I will also continue to own these books and therefore remember the generosity of both the AAA and the Lalchand Hirachand Premier Trust when I use them now and in the future.

I would like to sincerely thank the Lalchand Hirachand Premier Trust and the AAA for making this scholarship available to me, and enabling me to undertake this wonderful journey of education and scholarly pursuit. I am sure that the Trust and AAA will continue to generously help promising students in the future as well!

 Regards,

Ninad R. Pandit

Good Morning,

I am Pratim Patil and I am a recipient of the American Alumni Association’s Grant for Masters Degree at Georgia Institute of Technology in Electrical and Computer Engineering in Fall 2007.

I am very pleased to inform you that I have completed my coursework this Sping with a GPA of 4.0 / 4.0 and I have been awarded the “Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering” degree. This would not have been possible without the support of the  Association and I am very grateful to all the Trustees for having faith in my abilities.

I will soon begin the process of repaying my loan scholarship so that, with your support, many more students can realize their dreams like I have. Also I realize that my responsibility as a recipient of this prestigious scholarship extends far beyond just the loan amount repayment. This loan represents an investment that the society has made in me and now it is my duty to dedicate my life for the betterment of the society in India. I request you to allow me to start repayment from June 15 onwards when I get my first pay and in 2-3 installments.

Regards

Pratim Patil

Hi Poorvi,

Thank you for the email.
I am presently in the third quarter (1st year) of MS program in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University.

It was a dream come true when Prof. James S. Harris included me in his research group(http://snow.stanford.edu/index.php?page=people) and I plan to petition for transfer into the PhD program. All this would have been much difficult to achieve had the American Alumni Association did not confer this grant to me. It helped me pay a fraction of my tuition fee here. I hope to keep on doing well and at the end of the day, I should be in a position to generously support the students through this organization.

Thank you so much.

Regards,
Ashutosh

Hi Poorvi,

Sorry for late reply, I was busy with my presentation for lab meeting.

I’m doing well here in PhD program. I have completed first year of my studies successfully. Also decided my major area of research-Cancer Biology.

I feel deep sense of gratitude towards AAA and its members for making available the grants. I used that many to buy air tickets to USA.

Thanks.

Dear Poorvi,

Thanks for your e-mail and for your good wishes.

I would also like to thank the trust for approving the grant of Rs. 50,000/- for my higher education. I am glad to inform you that I have completed my Master of Science Program. I am currently on my Optional Practical Training (OPT) valid from Jan 19th 2009 - Jan 18th 2010. I am working with a company:
